During my first week as a practicing veterinarian, a woman came in with a young female cat and tearfully exclaimed that she could no longer keep the cat because the cat did not get along with her family and other pets.

We took the cat in, spayed her, and planned to find her a home. All week long, I would go to her cage, pet her, and talk to her and the more I did, the more attached I became. The technicians and other veterinarians kept telling me that I should take her home and I finally decided that I would. She has been a wonderful member of my household ever since and I am very happy I decided to adopt her.


I can't imagine being without her now. I would strongly encourage everyone to adopt an animal in need - it not only benefits the animal who so desperately needs a good home but also provides you with an incredible and loving companion who is always there to make you smile!
